The 2011 Georgia Bible Quiz Retreat will be held in Macon, GA at the Georgia District Assemblies of God headquarters. This is a time of training for all coaches, quizzers and officials. If you are new to Bible Quiz, you need to come! We are bringing in the best of the best to train you to become your best! Here are our keynote speakers:
Bernie Elliot is the National Bible Quiz Coordinator. Pastor Bernie has served for several years as the National Bible Quiz Field Representative and is also the BQ coordinator for the Pennsylvania-Delaware District. He has grown the district from less than 20 teams to over 160 teams. Pastor Bernie is a former youth pastor and senior pastor and now travels the country promoting what he calls "the most important ministry of the church." His tips and motivation help coaches and quizzers to better learn Scripture, be more successful at quizzing, and have more fun. He will be working with the newer and younger quizzers all weekend.
James Lex
will be teaching the Intermediate Quizzers (students not ready for Nationals, but not new to Bible Quiz). James will train the Intermediate Quizzers to study efficiently, quiz with confidence, and have fun learning God's Word. He brings over eight years of experience with him to the retreat, quizzing for seven years, memorizing half of the New Testament, and placing second individually at National Finals in both 2009 and 2010.
Lindsey Brower
will be training the Advanced Quizzers, those with the most experience and ready to take their game to the next level. Lindsey has been involved in Teen Bible Quiz for the last 9 years as a quizzer, coach, and official. As a quizzer, she led her team to be Northeast Regional Champions twice and quizzed at Nationals for two years, placing 7th and 13th individually. She also received the Curtis Scholarship, an award given to one outstanding senior quizzer each year at nationals. She received the Master Memorization Award five times, three as a quizzer and two as a coach. Immediately after graduating, she coached her teams to top 10 finishes at National Finals for two consecutive years.
We are honored to have Daniel Mims be the speaker for all coaches at the retreat this year. Daniel has been involved with the Bible Quiz ministry for over 25 years, starting as a quizzer in 1986 and moving on to coaching in 1995. He has taken teams to National finals six times. In 2008, Daniel kick-started the team in Montgomery, AL, advancing to the Championship division for the first time at last month's National Finals competition in Dallas, TX. He teaches the high school Sunday School class and incorporates the Bible Quiz material into his weekly lessons.
